OWH MWT – hey buddy

Hello and happy Wednesday! It’s cold again this morning and supposed to snow today. The kids are excited. πŸ™‚

Today is challenge day over at the Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps blog. The challenge is to make kid cards. I love kid cards, don’t you?Β

Sentiment: Paper Smooches
Papers: Jillibean Soup (cars) and DCWV (background)
Gina K navy card stock
Creative Memories circle punch; foam tape

These were simple and quick but still pretty fun. The background papers are from DCWV, and they are embossed slightly! They are from a *coughcoughveryveryverycoughcough* old pack I had. I’m sure none of you have any older papers laying around… πŸ™‚ Β And on that note, I made card kits to complete another pack of 6×6 papers I had almost completed! Woot! Look for that post later this week once I get them all assembled.

Thanks for visiting me today!

OWH MWT – Father’s Day

I just sent my muscle man box off to Kris, but I didn’t reach my goal of 250 – so I’m still making a few more and hoping to get a smaller package out to her again by the end of the month. Hey, I think I can, I think I can… And since the MWT challenge over at the Stars & Stamps blog is to make Fathers’ Day cards, well, hey! I can do that. πŸ™‚

This DCWV guy stack has some really great masculine papers. This houndstooth is nothing extraordinary, but I really like it, especially with the jute ribbon. Which, by the way, Reasonable Ribbon sells in 25 yard spools. Just in case you were wondering. πŸ™‚

This is Verve’s Father Figure stamp set. Can you tell it is my very favorite go-to stamp set for Dad cards? LOVE it.

OWH – MWT – hey there!

Wednesday. spring break week. NOT wanting this week to end…. oh, the sleeping in until 6:45. LOVE it. πŸ™‚

Anyhow, the challenge over at the Stars & Stamps blog today is to make a ‘thinking of you’ card for our heroes to be able to send home. I’m trying to keep my cards masculine lately, because I know they are really needed and also for the muscle man challenge box. Hence the brown. πŸ™‚

The ‘i’ had a flower on top, so I chose a masculine brad to cover it up. Hey, necessity is the mother of invention as the saying goes…

OWH sketch 115

Happy Sunday! Just popping in with a super quick card that I made with today’s sketch over at the Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps blog. πŸ™‚

This is going with my challenge box for masculine cards – birthday cards for men are always needed!!

Sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co. Papers are DCWV guy stack (handy, huh? LOL!)

OWH sketch 114 – you are old

Happy Sunday! The sun is shining and we were ready for the zoo before 10 am. We are very lucky to have a small, free zoo in our small city. We saw the lynx, the mountain lions, the eagles, the owls and hawks and peregrine falcon, and some groundhogs. And LOTS of geese and ducks. πŸ™‚

I’m already working on my box for the muscle man challenge – hmm, I think I spy a challenge in the works!!! (see sidebar)

I used this week’s sketch and I decided to keep this card masculine, and I think I might make more of these. My DH asked if I’d make one of these for his dad’s birthday. LOL!! My brother is definately getting one of these next month, too. πŸ™‚ And yes, he IS old. He’s 11 years older than me. πŸ™‚

Paper: DCWV guy stack; Unity Stamp Co Feb 2012 KOM

Thanks for visiting me today! Be sure to play along with the sketch challenge, and c’mon… who’s going to join me in the muscle man challenge? What’s YOUR number?

march ODBD for OWH; sketch 111

The start of another week – I’m excited! πŸ™‚

First up, there’s a new ODBD challenge for OWH. It’s a tic tac toe challenge, and as I was working on some mom cards, I realized they fit the challenge. Score!! (I went diagonal for brads, layers, and ribbon.)

I was trying to use up some PTI polka dot paper. This is the blue and green version. I also have a pink and purple versions as well. :)This is sketch 10, by the way…

Paper: PTI Ocean Tides, polka dot dp; SU barely banana, Really Reasonable ribbon, SU ink in old olive, monogram set from MFT

And then this week’s sketch challenge:

Β First I tried it with this patterned paper only. Cute, huh? This is a DCWV pet stack. It’s not really my thing but it was really cheap and I thought it would make cute cards for OWH. Almost used it up!

Then I tried it with some cute Unity stamps:

Still super cute. πŸ™‚

And a bonus card, just because I can – I was working on the sketches, and this is the same DP with no stamping – so fast and easy!

Thanks for visiting me today! Be sure to play along with the Sketch challenge here.

Unity FWF 8/26 – Beauty all its own

Happy Friday, Unity friends!!! We are ‘up north’ to enjoy one last looong weekend before the school year begins. My 5 year old met her teacher this week, saw her classroom, was excited to see two good friends in her class, and asks every morning how long before she GOES to school, really goes and not just to visit. LOL

And on the other hand, Tuesday is sure to be a sad day for our little one, age 21 months. She ADORES her big sister and they have had a blast playing together this summer. We’ll just have to line up some playdates for her little friends. πŸ™‚

And all of that to say that the seasons are changing, most definately – we’ve had someΒ lovely coolerΒ weather this past week, which is nice and not yet quite so nice, as I’m sure I will be griping about the cold in the long days of January and February.Β  I pulled out the Aug. 2010 KOM for this card:

Recollections kraft c/s base; all paper but the green strip under the trees (K&Co) is My Mind’s Eye
Momento Rich Cocoa Ink, Twine from the Twinery, Random button from my stash

I love Fridays. Even if nothing else is going right I get my fix of Unity inspiration!!! Be sure to check back at the Unity blog for the Feature $5 Friday set and to see everyone’s cards.Β  I scored a new Unity kit – sew cute! – from the Oh My Crafts 40% off sale a couple of weeks ago. I think I’ll ink it up for next Friday’s post. πŸ™‚

Thanks so much for visiting!

OWH MWT – inchies!

I’ve been having a lot of fun with the latest OWH sketch (you can find itΒ on the Stars & Stamps blog, sketch 82). It’s also challenging me to really try to use up some older papers and things I don’t reach for very often.

I think this turned out pretty cute! Sorry for the bad photo, I couldn’t get enough light. :/

Card recipe:
Papers: SU solids, DCWV mat stack (animal crackers, I think?)
Sentiment: Lizzie Anne Designs born to be wild set
Lemondrop twine – The Twinery

Thanks for looking! Be sure to come play along with us and help our heroes keep in touch with home.

FCCB challenge 73 – one smart cookie

Confession 1: I’m a Cricut newbie. Please be gentle!! I’m still trying to figure out all of the layers… I love this little gingerbread guy, and I thought I’d cut him out quick while my five year old was engrossed in a project.

A) her attention span is too short and B) I messed up but just went with it anyway.

Confession 2: I am a fudger. Yes, I am not a perfectionist crafter. I try to make my mistakes work for me rather than throwing them out. Sometimes this doesn’t work in my favor…

So, end result:

Entered in the fccb challenge: piece of cake.

Card recipe:
Just because cards cartridge
Papers: DCWV, random scraps
Maraschino twine from the Twinery, EK Success Edge punch

Thanks for letting me play along!

OWH MWT – another K-9 challenge!

Man, I think it is SO cool that Ciara is an honorary solider (read about that here), but these K-9 challenges are pretty tough for me. I’m just not a dog person! Luckily my last Lizzie Anne Designs order – two awesome grab bags – contained a cute dog image, so I colored it. And here’s where I admit that I seriously considered paper piecing him and making him a funky dog, rather than color him. *blush* I am just not good at coloring, and this is not the best pic. Sorry. The image was still a little wet.

Stamp: Lizzie Anne Designs
Paper: DCWV (the glitter is sealed in and therefore safe for OWH! Duly tested. :)) and random scraps
Ribbon scrap, Cuttllebug argyle embossing folder

No sentiment this time… I just wasn’t feeling it.

Thanks for looking, and be sure to come play along with usΒ  at the Stars & Stamps blog!
