OWH MWT – pastel love cards

Hello!

Time for an Operation Write Home mid-week throwdown and this week’s challenge is to use pastels. That’s not really my thing but I have been trying to use up the last of this Basic Grey pad, which is a lot of pastels, and so this challenge was very timely. I’ve really struggled with this 6×6 as I’m just not inspired by the colors and patterns.

I decided to go for simple and make a masculine and a feminine card.

Supplies: Basic Grey papers, Gina K card stock, random ribbon from stash, heart and sentiments by Unity Stamp Co

This awesome sentiment kit is one of the ‘everything’ kits by Unity Stamp Co. I’ve purchased a couple of the kits and I really, really like them! (Hint: wait for a sale. They go down to $12 often!)

FYI – I did add a for sale page (see the tab at the top?) and there are several things left of my initial purge. I am working on purge #2 today and I have a lot of inks to list. I should have it updated by tonight if you are interested, so email me or check back later.

Also, if you haven’t visited Blitsy yet – go there! It’s a discount crafting site (with paper crafts, yarn, jewelry making things, etc). I found Paper Smooches and Spellbinders there the past couple of weeks, and this week there are some Unity and Maya Road stamps! Go check it out!

Thanks for visiting me today!

Best,

Jen

LWD Design Team Showcase: Pink Paislee Snow Village Collection

Hello there! It’s me again, showcasing the lovely and very chic Pink Paislee Snow Village line today for Lone Wolf Designs.

Since it’s that time of year – Advent – I thought I’d show you a few different designs for gift card holders. We give several gift cards during Christmas (and throughout the year!). Each year we give our daughters’ teachers gift cards – usually to Target – and I like finding fun ways to present them.

My youngest’s preschool teacher is going to l.o.v.e this beanie holder. The pattern is so ‘her’!

PP: Snow Village paper
Stampin’ Up clay rosette (colored with marker)
ribbon unknown
You can find the tutorial here. I didn’t add the pom-pom on top as I was picturing more of a cloche than a beanie. 🙂

This next gift card holder is very simple to make! Let me first show you my sad first attempt:
This is why you ALWAYS, ALWAYS do a test spray of any mists or sprays. GRRR.  But isn’t that little keep calm image cute? It’s included in this page in the 6×6 pad:

Okay, so then I tried again with another of those cute little 1×1.5″ squares:
PP: Snow Village paper
Stamps: PP Snow Village
Ribbon: Stampin’ Up
Card stock: Gina K

Cute, huh? I stamped the ‘Dec’ and ’25’ from the coordinating Snow Village stamps.  You can find a tutorial here for this holder. These are small and go together very quickly!

This one is super fun. I think kids would love this! Heck, my husband loved it. 🙂
The ribbon works really well… that way you don’t have to worry about your
closure band needing to slide off and your card front getting in the way!
You can find that tutorial hereHere is the inside:
PP: Snow Village
Card stock: Bazzill
Ribbon: unknown

You can find these and many more products for your crafting projects at 25% off MSRP at Lone Wolf Designs, LLC. All you have to do is join the Lone Wolf Designs Discount Craft Supplies Facebook group. If you haven’t joined us yet, you’re paying too much for your craft supplies!

Growing in Unity – day 5

Hello friends! It’s my last day as Growing in Unity girl for Unity Stamp Co. My daughter’s favorite board book is What Should we Do with the Boo Hoo Baby so I won’t be all boo hoo hoo because truth is this week was so much fun… but I’m not sorry to see it end because it doesn’t end!! We have the Unity Facebook page, Pinterest, and Friends with Flair every Friday  for inspiration and camaraderie.  🙂

This is kind of going to be a show-and-tell kind of post but with more showing and less telling, ’cause I know you all have more important things to do:

Mini cards; thought these might be a fun thing to tuck in a teacher gift for Christmas:
Jillibean Soup/Unity Jolly Good Fun (left)
Unity’s Christmas Bough set (right)
Marvy Urchida markers/gel pens
This stamp is completely underwhelming if you do not emboss it. Know what I also hate am allergic to, besides coloring? Heat embossing, though I did it anyway ’cause I like you guys… Oh, and loose glitter too. Did I tell you my daughter’s Halloween costume was sparkly and shed glitter? Guess who is still cleaning up glitter eight days later... I’m not sure what happened with the color here. The green appears much less neon-like in real life.
Unity Christmas bough
embossing powder
Gina K card stock; SU ribbon
Then I thought I might try it on the kraft. My sentiment inks did not get fabulous coverage so it’s slightly underwhelming. Love this big branch though!!

Unity’s Chrismtas Bough set (image)
Jillibean/Unity Tis the Season for Joy set (sentiment)

Thank you for visiting me! Unity will give two Itty Bitty’s to a winner from the comments I received this week, so go back to the previous posts and comment if you haven’t already done so – better odds are a good thing! And then go shop, cause those new punny stamps are AMAZING. 🙂

Unity’s FWF 10/25

Hey all, it’s Unity’s Friends with Flair day (link up, comment, win prizes, get inspired, it’s all good) and it’s also my 10 year wedding anniversary! 🙂

So… just a quick card share. Because the kids are fighting. Of course they are. They haven’t seen each other alllllllll day long while the oldest is in school so playing together nicely? Nah.

Still love struck after 10 years! 🙂 This sentiment is from a random grab bag… anyone know which set it was from? It’s cute!

We are headed to Puerto Rico in 3 weeks to celebrate our anniversary, sans kids… oh gosh I cannot wait!!

Have a great weekend,
Jen

Lone Wolf Design DT Showcase: Lawn Fawn, a little Pink Paislee, and Tattered Angels

Happy Friday, everyone! It’s me again with another Lone Wolf Designs product showcase… and yes, I just can’t get enough of Lawn Fawn! I was inspired at Scrapfest @ the Mall of America in September, so… I went home and placed an order for some more LF goodies (see the link at the bottom of the post for how you can order and save!!) and then I had fun making some stuff.

Did you know that Christmas is only 60 days away

I also picked up some Tattered Angels glimmer mist at Scrapfest. I thought it might be fun to add some mist to some of my projects… and holiday was the name of the game.

I had such fun playing with the newer Tag, You’re It Lawn Cuts and coordinating Winter Gifts stamp set!
I stamped the background with some of the smaller stamps from Winter Gifts and colored in the leaves and berries. I stamped the banner tag on patterned paper and added one of the Winter Gifts sentiments, a little twine, and then assembled and misted!

This is the glimmer mist I chose:
It’s sugar maple, which is a lot less orange than it looks in the photo, thank goodness! It’s a really pretty copper tone. 🙂

The Lawn Fawn make & take I did last month used the jar from Summertime Charm (and coordinating Lawn Cut die) to make the bell jar into a snow globe. Adorable, right?? I added a little kraft envelope behind the green panel so you could add a gift card! The sentiment is from Let it Snow and I embossed it in gold to go with the pretty Pink Paislee snow village paper. 🙂 I added a little clear Stickles to the snowflakes as well.

Then I realized I had an abundance of Lawn Fawn winter sentiments, so I decided to make some subway art tags.
And then I just used the Winter Tags stamps and dies to find the best placement and cut out two tags!
I sprayed them both with the Tattered Angels mist. SO pretty with the red ink! The top banner die is another cute little tag I made.  It would easily attach to a small gift bag, and doesn’t even need to be a holiday gift… win/win!
And one tag I put on a card. How fun is that? This paper is also by Lawn Fawn.

The Tattered Angels mist is shimmery and it does rub off a bit on your skin… just an FYI for those who do not care for glimmer/glittery products! The shimmer is subtle and though it takes a little practice to get your spritzing just right, it’s fun!

Here are two bonus tags… they kind of got sprayed by accident (yeah, I’m not at my best after 10 pm. I’m more of an early bird) but I actually loved the end result. These are Pink Paislee stamps and paper (cut using the Lawn Fawn largest tag die). I used the stamps from the Snow Village set and a little tag from the Snow Village paper pack for the bottom tag. The top tag was one of those “happy accident” tags… I stamped in a color that wasn’t quite what I wanted, so I shadow stamped over the top with a neutral color and then I kind of liked how it made it look more aged… and then a tiny bit of glimmer mist at the edges gave it even more of an antique look. Bonus!

Now, I know you are thinking “this would be so fun and easy to make a whole bunch of holiday tags at once. I should really call my sister/my mom/my best friends and plan a little coffee and crafting time to get started on holiday stuff.”  You are correct, you will also need something chocolate, and you’re welcome. 🙂

Have a GREAT weekend, friends!

OWH MWT – pink/green love

Hey, just popping in with a quick card share for today’s Operation Write Home challenge! The challenge is to make a love card with pink and green, and I made a card the other day that fits the bill. 🙂

This was one of those “happy accident” cards. I was going to use the pink heart that I die cut for the sentiment, but – not thinking – I stamped it in gray ink, and it was hard to see. SO, miracle of all miracles, I realized that I had lined up the die cut pretty well and I just used the negative space against the green and framed it out with a faux layer, i.e., tiny strips cut to 1/4″. 🙂

Of course you are all the final say on whether or not it actually works! 🙂

Thanks for visiting!
We had snow flurries this morning. AHHHHHHHHHH! I’m not ready!

OWH sketch 193

Time for another Operation Write Home sketch – did you hop yesterday for the World Cardmaking Day blog hop? I did, though I only made it about 2/3 of the way through the hop. I can finish off the rest today. There’s so many great cards! If you didn’t see my card, be sure to scroll down to the next post (there’s blog candy!).

Today’s sketch is number 193. I really like this sketch! And since my eldest has been sick this weekend, no Mass for me today. :/ She went to bed still feeling really sick but woke up chipper and happy, which is wonderful, but I don’t want her to over-do. And heaven forbid we share germs… no other family wants what she had! 😦

These were my first efforts. The ribbon tab card was #2… my seven year old decimated my bling stash the other day, and I wasn’t liking what bling I had to add on the left side, so I added ribbon tabs.
My Mind’s Eye papers
Twinery twine
Gina K card stock

Then I decided to make a couple more changes, and I really really really liked the end result. See what you think. The left card was #3 and the right was the final card, which is my favorite of all of them.

And I think this is my last Scrapfest photo: Jillibean Soup class cards

Thanks for visiting me today! Remember Sandy is asking for holiday cards to arrive by October 15 if possible. I already sent a bunch and I’ll be sending my final batch next week! Then on to Valentine’s Day. 🙂

OWH sketch 192

Happy Sunday! It’s time for Operation Write Home sketch 192. I’m at the very tail end of this Jillibean Soup paper pad, so I think I may make a few more of this theme. 🙂

Jillibean Soup designer paper
Unity Stamp co clipboard and sentiment
kraft is embossed with a woodgrain folder
Gina K chocolate brown for the layers
And… a couple of promised photos from Scrapfest last weekend! I still have to show you the Jillibean Soup photos and the Unity ones. These are the make & takes that we did; we didn’t have much time between classes:
From l-r: Bo Bunny, Lawn Fawn, Simple Stories
There were others I would have LOVED to do. We spent nearly an hour waiting in the Lawn Fawn line, but it was so worth it! That’s the bell jar turned upside down for snow globe!! 🙂

And then these are three of the cards I made from the Doodlebug class. We only had time to make 3 in class and we brought three home to complete. Their stuff has glitter, FYI, not OWH safe and not my preference, but the cards turned out very cute. Washi flags are HARD to do but the result is very very cute (top card).

That’s all for me tonight! Thanks for visiting!

OWH sketch 191

Happy Sunday, people! I’m recovering from a long, busy day at Scrapfest yesterday. It was so much fun!! I owe a HUGE thanks to my bloggy and now real-life friend Sarah for saving the day – I was supposed to attend with a local friend, but she was unable to come at the last minute. Sarah agreed to come and take her place at the classes, so I rocked some tunes and diet coke and made the 2.5 hour trip there and back yesterday.

AND she is as lovely and funny as you would expect reading her blog. I’m so glad we got to meet and hang out all day! 🙂

I will review some of the classes and share some of the projects this week, so stay tuned! (Hint – my favorite class (AGAIN) was Jillibean Soup. Love Jill!!!)

It’s time for another Operation Write Home sketch, this week is 191. I made this card:

Jillibean Soup apple cheddar soup
Paper Smooches sentiment
Gina K dark chocolate card stock
labels 8

And if you can’t tell anything odd about it, I will thank you greatly. (The labels don’t ‘nest’ well, so I die cut the sentiment and then trimmed the red around it. Can you tell?)

I’m not sure about that green apple background, so give me a yay or nay in the comments, will you?

And my moment of shame… I bought these yesterday:

In the Archiver’s ‘sale’ section. 8 paper pads, people! The problem is, they all call to me. And the truth… I had more in my basket that I put back! This is most of my haul. Technique Tuesday! I’m not sure why we didn’t hear more squeals when we were shopping… oh the good stuff to be found!

OWH sketch 186

Time for another Operation Write Home sketch! Today was kind of a lazy day. It was actually over 80 today, which it hasn’t been in over two weeks, so the kids played outside in the sprinkler while I lazed on the deck with a good book and some diet Coke. Ahhh, the life. 🙂

I’ve been trying to use up this My Mind’s Eye ‘the merry days of Christmas  pad and it’s just not my favorite. I went to it for this sketch thinking Christmas but I ended up just making a masculine card. Hmm.  Now I’m thinking harder about using up these papers, if I can use them in a non-holiday way!

Behold, sketch 186:
MME merry days of Christmas paper
Gina K warm cocoa card stock
Unity Stamp Co sentiment
big eyelets and twine from stash
CTMH desert sand & TH antique linen inks
Happy start of the week! Thanks for visiting me today.
