LWD Design Team Showcase: Pink Paislee Snow Village Collection

Hello there! It’s me again, showcasing the lovely and very chic Pink Paislee Snow Village line today for Lone Wolf Designs.

Since it’s that time of year – Advent – I thought I’d show you a few different designs for gift card holders. We give several gift cards during Christmas (and throughout the year!). Each year we give our daughters’ teachers gift cards – usually to Target – and I like finding fun ways to present them.

My youngest’s preschool teacher is going to l.o.v.e this beanie holder. The pattern is so ‘her’!

PP: Snow Village paper
Stampin’ Up clay rosette (colored with marker)
ribbon unknown
You can find the tutorial here. I didn’t add the pom-pom on top as I was picturing more of a cloche than a beanie. 🙂

This next gift card holder is very simple to make! Let me first show you my sad first attempt:
This is why you ALWAYS, ALWAYS do a test spray of any mists or sprays. GRRR.  But isn’t that little keep calm image cute? It’s included in this page in the 6×6 pad:

Okay, so then I tried again with another of those cute little 1×1.5″ squares:
PP: Snow Village paper
Stamps: PP Snow Village
Ribbon: Stampin’ Up
Card stock: Gina K

Cute, huh? I stamped the ‘Dec’ and ’25’ from the coordinating Snow Village stamps.  You can find a tutorial here for this holder. These are small and go together very quickly!

This one is super fun. I think kids would love this! Heck, my husband loved it. 🙂
The ribbon works really well… that way you don’t have to worry about your
closure band needing to slide off and your card front getting in the way!
You can find that tutorial hereHere is the inside:
PP: Snow Village
Card stock: Bazzill
Ribbon: unknown

FWF 8/9… a cozy christmas

So seriously, at Christmas last year my husband ordered me Unity Stamps! He was even impressed with the seriously large selection of different styles. 🙂 This stamp is one of my favorites from one of the kits he got me… it’s got such a cool retro vibe AND it’s a really generic sentiment. I LOVE sentiment stamps and if I can use them for a season, not just a specific day, well my heart gets all happy! It pairs really nicely with this MME paper, which I am going to use up this holiday season.

I AM. You should see my stack of 6×6’s. It’s kind of embarrassing.

Okay, so the card. Usually I look for a sketch or have an idea to jump start a card. This time I just kind of took some ideas and went with it to see what I got.

I think I like it.

Pay no mind to the oddly large card prop, which is making the bottom look all bowed. It’s not.

Be sure to head back to the Unity blog and check out everyone’s projects. There’s always so many stamps I want need to buy (and thankfully, a sale too!). 🙂

Sarah & Jen’s February challenge – fun fold kid card

Hello and welcome to our final blogger buddy challenge for February. This one is mine and I challenged us to make a fun fold card for a kid!

I recently discovered the “joy fold” card and I think it’s super fun! I made two of these, one for a boy and one for a girl, but I forgot to take a picture of the boy one before I gave it to the intended recipient. Sorry about that; I was in a hurry! 🙂

Here is the girl card:
My Mind’s Eye Lime Twist happy go luck dp
Bazzill strawberry splash card stock
Paper Smooches sentiment
Basic Grey butterfly, random flat pearl from stash
CTMH ink, gold pen
And kind of open:

And here it is flat (still okay for Operation Write Home!):

Thanks for visiting me today! Be sure to hop back to Sarah’s blog to see what she made! She’s super talented. 🙂

OWH VCMP – caffeine challenge

Good morning, sunshine! I always annoy my late-owl husband with my early bird perkiness. 🙂  Anyhow, welcome to the first Sunday virtual card making party challenge for OWH! What better challenge for first thing in the morning then a caffeine challenge? (If you want to see the other challenges from yesterday or this is the first you’ve heard about the VCMP, go here to learn more.)

So, find your stamps or dies related to coffee, tea, soda, or chocolate and get crafty! If you don’t have anything of those varieties, don’t worry – Operation Write Home has a fantastic and very easy coffee cup tutorial. In fact, this one of my go-to shaped cards simply because it is SO easy to make. When I had a glut of solid colored card stock last year (a gift from my dear sis), I mass-produced a whole bunch of them. 🙂

I always think gray and dark red is a very classy combo, and it works well for both men and women. So I made two coffee cup cards, one for a man and one for a woman. I lined both of the insides with white card stock.

Left card:
Ippity by Unity burlap stamp; OWH/Hero Arts sentiment
OWH/Hero Arts sentiment and hearts stamps
Bazzill textured gray and pomegranate splash card stock
1/2″ Corner Chomper
Embossing folders: plaid (left) and swirls (right)
scrap of crochet trim (right)
Nestabilities labels 18
Tim Holtz fired brick ink
To make things more fun, here are some retired stamps from Lizzie Anne Designs as well as a pack of ribbon and twine in lots of colors:
I’ll give both of these to one lucky commenter. If you want a chance to win, you must comment and commit to sending (at minimum) two cards (or Anyhero notes) to a shipper in the next 2 weeks. (If you just sent a box in the last few days, that counts too!) You can find the shipper addresses here. For an EXTRA chance to win, link up a caffeine card. 🙂

Go get busy and link up your card!

Unity’s FWF 2-15; Sarah & Jen Feb. challenge

Hello and happy Friday! Today is a two-fer; it’s Unity’s Friends with Flair AND the February blogger challenge with my good friend Sarah! We have two challenges each month; the first challenge is Sarah’s (be sure to visit her blog for her creative project) and it’s a color challenge to use red, white, and black only.

Do you ever have a crafting session where you think you can’t make a decent card for the life of you? Yeah, that was me trying to make this card.

This weekend Operation Write Home is having a virtual card making party (vcmp) in honor of President’s Day weekend. You might want to check it out. 🙂

OWH MWT – the WI flag turned card

Hello there! I’ve rejoined the land of the living after a nasty bug early this week. I’m just thankful that no one else in my household got sick!

Today’s challenge at the Stars & Stamps blog is to take the colors of your state flag and make a card. I live in Wisconsin, and this is our flag. Forward!

And here is my card, loosely based on sketch 151:

Bazzill cardstock, SU really red ink

Thanks for visiting me today! I’m excited for this weekend’s upcoming VCMP, are you?

OWH MWT – birthday

Hello there!

Give your loved ones an extra hug today, please. My parents had a freak accident yesterday and praise be to God, no one was seriously injured. It really makes you realize how fragile life can be.

I made this card today and I’m not thrilled with it. I think it might be better without the ribbon. What do you think? I just adore the sentiment, though. 🙂
Jillibean Soup papers
Unity Stamp co sentiment
And then I made this one, which is brighter than I would normally do but I kind of like it. It’s very cheerful.

Thanks for looking!

OWH MWT – love and hugs!

Hello people! I have been neglecting my blog lately, I know, I just have so little time to craft these days! Trust me, I wish it was different! Two birthdays in a short time frame plus Thanksgiving and Advent makes for a crazy Jen!
Anyhow, I’ve been thinking on the OWH MWT challenge for love & hugs cards this morning I found a few random pieces and I think I put them together into a pretty cohesive whole. Don’t you love it when you can manage that? The hearts were punched already, so I used the negative image; the woodgrain had a circle cut out so I filled the space with wide ribbon and let the sentiment flag fly on top. Cool, no? I love the colors in this card!
MME Lime Twist, I think
PTI ripe avacado and Bazzill berry sensation
Hero Arts for OWH stamps
SU ribbon, Momento rose bud ink
thanks for visiting me today! I think I might have a new project to share tomorrow, too. 🙂

OWH MWT – winter love cards

Hello there peeps!
I didn’t think I was going to get to the OWH MWT challenge today (it’s to make winter cards!) but I decided to clean my craft space for 15 minutes. Then I was crafting all of a sudden. I can’t help it, I don’t think. Clean = mojo for me. Oh well, go with the flow, right?? 🙂
So. I wouldn’t normally go for a lot of yellow, but the yellow in this pretty snowflake paper from Crate Paper was begging for it.
Crate paper: Snow Day collection
Gina K dark chocolate; Bazzill pineapple bliss
Unity’s Ippity sentiment; Twinery twine
Tim Holtz scattered straw, antique linen, walnut stain
So I embossed it, and then lightly rubbed my TH scattered scraw ink pad over the top. It really makes the embossing pop!  A little love sentiment, a little twine bow… and done!
Enjoy the rest of your week, friends!
