OWH MWT – love/valentines

Hey guys, just popping in with a quick card share. This week’s Operation Write Home challenge is love or valentine’s cards. I made this one a while back, and saved it to share now. 🙂 I love black and white; it’s uber chic… I debated on adding a red heart and left it as is. I trust that you all will tell me if it needs a pop of color!

Paper: I think My Mind’s Eye
Stamp: Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday

Hope you guys are having a great week! We’re in the midst of birthday hoopla (my eldest turns 8 tomorrow!) and then it’s full-on Advent. I love this season of preparation for Christ’s birth! Also, I shocked my seven-year-old nephew the other day on the way to school with the news that our Advent calendar did not contain just chocolate, but days where we served the poor and did random acts of kindness. Go figure, right??

Best,
Jen

Hey there friends, time for another Friends with Flair Friday over at the Unity Stamp Co blog. I have gotten out of the habit of participating (boo!) and so here I am again. 🙂

I have been trying to use up some of my partial 6×6 pads… because sadly, I seem to accumulate them faster than I can use them. I’m sure I’m the only one with multiplying paper.

Anyhow. I LOVED this MME happy go lucky pad and I am sad to see it gone, but it was so much fun to create with. I loved the patterns and the bright colors!

This was a random stamp I received and I ADORE it. 🙂
Random ribbon from stash, Quickkutz heart dies. At this point I was only
running on smaller scrap pieces, yet this is probably my favorite card of
all that I made using up this pad!

And here are a few more. I used up all of my leftover Jililbean Soup epoxy buttons on these cards… the colors coordinated perfectly! The left bottom card uses a gorgeous Unity flower stamp. SO pretty!

OWH/ODBD challenge for August

Yes that’s not a terribly exciting title. Sorry, it’s been one of those days. It’s 5:30 pm and the girls fell asleep about 45 minutes ago. Do you see my problem??

Oh goodness gracious.

On the other hand, I do have a card for the August Operation Write Home & Our Daily Bread Designs challenge. Each month the (lovely) ODBD people challenge the (creative & talented) OWH people to make cards based on a theme for our heroes. If there are 25 cards linked, they will pay the cost to ship one box of cards overseas to our heroes; if 50 are linked, they will sponsor two boxes! What a generous thing, right?

Jen & Sarah’s challenge – moms in March!

Hello and happy Friday!

Time for the first March challenge from Sarah… to make a mother’s day card! I know it seems early, but both Sarah and I donate cards to Operation Write Home and well, the deadline is March 31 for mothers’ day cards. Those cards have to have enough time to fly around the world and back home! 🙂

Here is mine:

Jillibean Soup paper
sentiment combo from Ali Edwards/TT
felt flower and brad from stash

Thanks for looking! Be sure to head over to Sarah’s blog and see what her crafty and talented genius created! 🙂

OWH MWT – recipe cards

Hello there and happy Wednesday! It has been so busy this past week – my house looks like a tornado whipped through it, LOL, which totally stresses me out – that I haven’t had much time to craft!

2 patterned papers
1 twine/ribbon
1 die cut
1 embossing folder

I made this one first. While I love the papers, it’s overall just kind of ‘meh’ to me. The ribbon looks a lot more coordinated than in the photo, I promise.  I combined a couple of sentiments but I’m not sure the mix in fonts works either. ARGH!
My Mind’s Eye Blink of an Eye
Sentiments from Ali Edwards/TT
Plaid embossing folder (on top pp piece)
Nesties labels 8

So then I made this one, and I like it a lot more. It’s not crooked in real life. Maybe my head is crooked? I swear I have way too many crooked photos lately. :/
Hero Arts for OWH sentiment
My Mind’s Eye Away we go paper
PTI smokey shadow card stock
CTMH ink; Twinery twine
Nesties small ovals

The embossing is harder to see in the second photo – I embossed the larger oval with a woven/linen embossing folder. It’s subtle. 🙂

Thanks for looking!

OWH sketch 146

Good morning!! We are in the middle of “birthday party weekend” here. Two yesterday and one today… oh the last-minute cards I had forgotten to make. OOPS!

Today’s sketch 146 from Operation Write Home is a goodie; I turned it when the stamp I wanted to use just wasn’t going to work. I’ve been trying to create more masculine love cards recently; I’m sad to say I have been sorely lacking on that front. I’ve got the brown cards (haha… remember that April Fools joke? :)) down but not so much on the love side.

Here is my card:
MME blink of an eye pad
frame stamp: Unity Stamp Co; sentiment: Ali Edwards for TT
Bazzill walnut cream cs
SU ruby red & Momento London fog inks; foam tape

Here’s another I made this afternoon:

MME blink of an eye pad
kraft paper and Bazzill walnut cream
Unity KOM stamps
tim holtz distress ink; SU ruby red

Thanks for visiting me today! If you’re seeing this soon after posting, stay tuned. I may come back and try this sketch again later today; if I do I will come add the cards to this post. 🙂

OWH sketch 141

It’s Sunday and time for another sketch from the good folks over at Operation Write Home. The sample cards this week were made by yours truly! 🙂

This was a really fun sketch, so I hope you give it a try. I didn’t have any circle dies that were large enough for the side panel, so for the first card I used my largest labels 8 die:

MME Holly Jolly dp
Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday stamp set
Gina K dark chocolate cardstock
Nesties labels 8, small circles and scalloped circles

I didn’t have a holiday sentiment that would fit the smaller circle nicely enough, so I used two different sentiment pieces from an Ali Edwards set to create this sentiment. I think it works, at holidays we do tend to count our blessings. However, what you CAN’T see in this card is the very creepy baby that Santa is holding. Check it:

Creepiest crafting find EVER. The rest of this 6×6 pad is lovely and very normal. Baby creeped me out though!

Then I decided to get crafty and you know, actually follow the sketch (which is not necessary but I would’ve felt slacker-ish if I didn’t, so there you are), so I found my personal CD player – well, my kids’ really – and traced it to make the circle panel for this card:

Jillibean Soup Apple Cheddar Soup dp
walnut cream -Bazzill and dark chocolate-Gina K cardstock
Unity Stamp Co sentiment; distress inks

I cut the circle by hand, adhered it to a layer of brown, and then hand cut that too. Easy enough and certainly proof that you don’t need the world’s fanciest or most expensive tools to craft (but don’t tell my husband)!

Thanks for visiting me today, and please do go link up a card after giving this sketch a try!!

OWH MWT – anyhero cards

The challenge over at the Stars & Stamps blog today is to make AnyHero cards for our deployed service people. Recently I had the (not terribly original but new to me) idea to make more feminine anyhero notes rather than just patriotic ones. I’ve been working on this past sunday’s sketch (LOVE!) and went with that to make a feminine Anyhero card:

Paper: MME
Stamp: Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday
