Unity’s FWF 12/6

Hello!

It’s Friday; isn’t it? This week has just flown by! My eldest daughter turned 8 yesterday and I’ve been busy today preparing for her birthday party tomorrow.

Today I also realized that I always panic when Christmas is over and I realize that I’m completely out of birthday cards, and we have several family birthdays in January. And since I had the sewing machine out making party favor bags, and it’s Unity’s Friends with Flair day…

Operation Write Home World Cardmaking Day HOP! Thanks, hero!

Hello!
I’m so happy you are here for the Operation Write Home blog hop! Click on the link above to see all of the links; there’s always great inspiration! Today we are using OWH sketches (a new sketch is posted every Sunday) to make thank you notes.

My story for this card is too long for this post, so if you would like the back story of how I made this card for a local hero who was interviewed for our local phone book’s “Tribute To Veterans” edition, go to this post

I won’t tell you that I didn’t read the directions and use a sketch to make this card, soooo… let’s say this is based on sketch 189 and I REALLY played around with the measurements   ‘K? Good. 🙂
My Mind’s eye Lost & Found 6×6 (Christmas papers, go figure!)
Paper Smooches Circle of Honor sentiment stamps
Stamping up Ruby Red and Momento tuxedo black inks

Now go read that back story and comment to win some blog candy. Wherever you are, I hope you are having a beautiful day!  Thanks for visiting me!

OWH MWT & bootcamp

Hey there! It’s challenge day over at the Operation Write Home blog and today’s challenge is cards for kids! I’m sharing a card I made recently from some scrap pieces… gotta love it when you can use it up! See, people, this is why I leave my crafting space in disarray so often. Then I have to clean it, and it never fails that 10 minutes in I’ve found several things that could make a card and then I’m off crafting again. 🙂

Anyhow, this also works for the OWH Bootcamp repetition class:
Jilibean Soup dp scraps
Unity Stamp Co sentiment
Cuttlebug Swiss dots embossing folder
Momento Danube blue and dandelion inks
Really Reasonable Ribbon crinkle ribbon
Gina K card stock

I thought this made a fun and cheery kid birthday card… those number papers work really well for kid birthdays, in my opinion! I think you can see the repetition here… there’s a lot of dots!

Thanks for visiting me today!

OWH TT – woodgrain technique

Many thanks to Nancy at Operation Write Home for linking us up with this awesome woodgrain inking technique today – it is SO EASY!

Here’s what I made. This is sketch 17 as well:

Jilibean Soup apple cheddar soup papers
Momento rich cocoa, black inks and SU pumpkin pie ink
Unity Stamp Co stamps

Gina K dark chocolate cardstock
UPDATE: I decided to make a few more and experiment with some lighter colors for the woodgrain. Um, hello – LOVE!

Same deets as above but woodgrain created with Ti m
Holtz antique linen ink. 🙂

I’m not surprised that I chose autumnal colors. It’s about 20 degrees with below zero windchills and blowing snow. GOOD GRIEF! I don’t think my husband would appreciate me cranking the heat to get in a summery mood. LOL! 😉

You can find everyone else’s projects here. 🙂

OWH MWT – tic tac toe

It’s mid-week throwdown time over at Operation Write Home!  There’s a tic tac toe challenge this week. I chose blue, embossing, and ribbon.

This card was made from pieces in a kit swap. Thanks to Beth for this one! There was an adorable matching sentiment but I wrecked it. :/

Not a clue on the paper, sorry. I think the image is Doodle Pantry. ?
SU ribbon; Gina K black cardstock
Quickkutz woven embossing folder and Momento sky blue ink

It’s another challenge for the Operation Write Home virtual card making party – things with wings! Go here for the challenge link. And go here for the list of all of the challenges!

I forgot I owned this stamp. 😦  However, I LOVE how this card turned out. It’s totally not what I first imaged making.

Smokey Shadow – PTI card stock
Unity Stamp Co stamps
foam tape, Antique Linen (TH) and London Fog (momento) inks

Thanks for looking! 🙂

OWH Sketch 154 and more :)

Hey there! Is it Tuesday already??  Wow. The new year is off to a great start here – Christmas break was super rejuvenating, and though the flu is making the rounds we’ve been healthy enough. I’m not going to complain!!

I finally got a chance to play along on sketch 154 from Operation Write Home. I’d like to offer a great, big welcome to Marlene, the new “sketch lady!” 🙂  My first attempt was not so hot, but I tried again and I like the end result:
Authentique paper
HERO ARTS/OWH sentiment

Nesties labels 9

Momento London Fog ink; Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet ink

I made a lightbox from Paula’s tutorial over at the Stars & Stamps blog today. I need better lighting yet, but wow – what a difference! My box has a spot right on top of my printer, LOL. What can I say? I’m a little crunched for space in here.

The Nesties shape is my blog win from Krystil’s blog on New Year’s. 🙂 I LOVE these new labels… thank you, Krystil!

I found a great local stamping resource – Lighthouse Books & Gifts in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. If you are anywhere near or traveling through, be sure to stop in and check it out. They have a truly awesome selection of stamps, dies, inks, and embossing folders. They even carry a bunch of 6×6 pads, and I know I”m not the only paper addict out there. 🙂

Thanks for visiting me today!

OWH sketch 146

Good morning!! We are in the middle of “birthday party weekend” here. Two yesterday and one today… oh the last-minute cards I had forgotten to make. OOPS!

Today’s sketch 146 from Operation Write Home is a goodie; I turned it when the stamp I wanted to use just wasn’t going to work. I’ve been trying to create more masculine love cards recently; I’m sad to say I have been sorely lacking on that front. I’ve got the brown cards (haha… remember that April Fools joke? :)) down but not so much on the love side.

Here is my card:
MME blink of an eye pad
frame stamp: Unity Stamp Co; sentiment: Ali Edwards for TT
Bazzill walnut cream cs
SU ruby red & Momento London fog inks; foam tape

Here’s another I made this afternoon:

MME blink of an eye pad
kraft paper and Bazzill walnut cream
Unity KOM stamps
tim holtz distress ink; SU ruby red

Thanks for visiting me today! If you’re seeing this soon after posting, stay tuned. I may come back and try this sketch again later today; if I do I will come add the cards to this post. 🙂

Unity FWF 11/18 – party time

Today’s card is a quick one I made yesterday. It was one of those, “um, dear? Do you have a birthday card I could use for one of my employees?”

“Oh, J’s having a birthday? When?”

“Oh, I think it was Nov. 3.” !!!!

Yeah, so I had to go for “make it before I leave in ten minutes but make it stunning because she’s an artist and it’s really late.” No pressure, right?

Stamps: Unity Undeniably You (one of my go-to sets, seriously I love that dress form SO MUCH)
Nesties labels 10, Momento Ink tuxedo black, random ribbon I wove into flowers, DP I think from SU.

Sorry for the bad photo… I was trying to get a pic before the card rushed out the door!

Right about now I’d tell you to go browse the Unity store, but it’s BROWN FRIDAY and Angie says wait until 5 pm central to shop. So go browse, write down the names of sets you love and then wait for 5 pm to SHOP!!!! 🙂 And don’t forget to go back to the Unity blog and comment on all of the fabulous projects so you can win some Unity stamps!

Thanks for visiting me today!

Unity FWF 11/11 – absolutely priceless

Hey blog friends! I’m so glad it’s Friday! On Wednesday we had our first winter storm here in central Wisconsin. UGH!!! The kids loved it but Mommy likes cute shoes and does not enjoy wet, freezing feet. Time to pull out the cute boots! I dream of the days I can wear heels and not have to worry about chasing after small children…. oh well. It’s a good thing shoe people make cute FLAT boots for moms. 🙂

This little girl is about to turn 2 very soon:

and so I made her birthday party invites. No, I’m not an overachiever… I only had to make 5 of them. 🙂

Unity’s Absolutely Priceless Itty Bitty
Twinery twine
Momento rose bud ink
Cuttlebug embossing folder – swiss dots (used the debossed side)

Thanks for looking! Make sure you head back to the Unity blog to check out everyone’s projects and maybe the Unity store for the $5 Friday feature or some other new stuff. Am I the only one that has amassed a line of blue tickets on my computer monitor??
