GIU Day 5 & Unity FWF 12/21

Hello friends! It’s FRIDAY! πŸ™‚ This is my last day as Growing in Unity girl… I am sad to see the week come to an end! I have loved seeing new visitors to my blog and all of your sweet comments. πŸ™‚Β

It’s Friday and that means Friends with Flair over at the Unity blog... but before I get to project pics, yesterday we got about 10″ of snow. Seriously. And LOTS of wind. So no school… hmmm, what to do?
Salt dough ornaments! And a salt dough snowman with hat and scarf. πŸ™‚
You should’ve seen our hands after from all of the dye. GROSS.
What’s a snow day without playing outside in the snow?
They looked like roly poly snowgirls. πŸ™‚
Movies, crafting, coloring, a little bit of crafting time for me… it was a nice day with my girls. πŸ™‚

So. Yesterday I had this smallish scrap of pretty, pretty Authentique paper and could not bear to toss it, so I made it into this:
Authentique dp, Gina K kraft and PTI ripe avacado cardstock
Unity KOM sentiment
random ribbon from stash, scoring tool
I scored the bottom of the card around the sentiment and used up that scrap of ribbon creating a ruffled banner. I adhered it with my very own glue dots; if you want to see how to make glue dots or how I store my glue dots you can see this post (it’s cool. You should look.)

This card I am less impressed with, but my DH really liked it. He said it was more masculine. With a bow??? I am not sure.Β
Authentique paper (used it UP! go me!)
Unity Nov 2011 KOM sentiment
SU edge punch, random ribbon and glue dot to adhere
Because this post isn’t long enough, I have a couple of gift bags my oldest helped me make. This one is for her teacher. We spritzed it with shimmer paint mixed with hairspray and she got a huge glob right in the middle. OOPS. I’m quite sure her teacher is used to first-grader crafting creations.Β
Unity’s Snowglobe Wonderland

And this one I made for one of our nieces and did marginally better on the spritzing. LOL By the way, this Snowflake Kisses set is becoming one of my go-to’s for winter cards. I LOVE it.

Thank you so much for making it all the way to the bottom! Don’t forget to leave a comment – and go back and comment on my other posts – for more chances to win. Unity will give away 2 Itty bitty’s and I will give away a Unity grab bag Β as well (Winners drawn on Sunday morning)! Merry Christmas!

  1. Loving all your fun holiday projects, especially love the way you used scraps on your card! The papers and stamped sentiment against the kraft base looks so warm and cozy!

  2. WOW, Jen, you did a lot on a snowy day. Everything is great. I am with your husband on that second card. I love that paper and the punched edge finishes it off nicely. Your first card is so very pretty. That paper is nice it is great that you got to use every bit of it. Those girls of yours are just darling and your relatives will love that bags as much as what is in them. Have a fabulous weekend.

  3. Looks like you had a very fun couple of snow days! I love the color you added to the salt dough ornaments! I never thought of that before, I've always painted mine. Enjoy your Christmas!

  4. I love all the projects you did today! Your girls are so cute! And I never throw away any scraps, either! And even the smallest piece gets punched with a 1″ square punch or a 1″ circle punch and I have a box full. And I have a box full of small shapes like stars and hearts, etc. of all colors and it makes a wonderful confetti to put inside of birthday cards!! I know, I'm crazy, but I just love paper!!!

  5. Jen, I haven't commented much, but I've looked at all the cool cards and projects you've made. They are awesome! Unity is almost a neighbor to me (only an hour or so away). I love all your work! Great job!

  6. I was hoping for more snow here in NW Wisconsin, but we only got a couple inches. No snow day for us. Sounds like you had great fun. I love all your projects. I agree with you DH. I like that card!

  7. Yikes! That is a ton of snow! By the looks of your projects, it looks like you spent the snow time well. The ornaments are adorable and your cards are stunning!!! Your little rolypoly's are pretty adorable too! You did an amazing job this week!!!! TFS πŸ™‚
